World Series Whiskers Bring Back Hairy Old Memories

When watching the current championship games, have you noticed how many of the guys wear beards and long hair? Some are bushy enough to recall the historic House of David baseball teams.

They originated at the Benton Harbor, Michigan, Orthodox Jewish religious colony in 1903. The House of David baseball teams featuring young male members started there soon after. They toured the U.S., Canada and Mexico for the next 30 years. The reasons for the beards and long locks were religious regulations that forbade shaving and haircuts.
