Marx Brothers: Would They Be Banned Today?

The 1930s movies by these crazy guys are still among my all-time favorites. Whenever they’re on late-night TV, I enjoy them. Sometimes, when tired of all the online crap that now poses as entertainment, I go to YouTube and spend the next hour or more with the ageless humor of the Marx brothers.

However, now that there’s an endless news flow of disgraced movie moguls who performed misdeeds on casting couches, I wonder if the brothers would be too politically incorrect today. Groucho always leered at girls and made inappropriate remarks, hinting what he would do if they fell for his line. Some of his quotes are appropriately inappropriate:

A man is only as old as the woman he feels
I wish you’d keep my hands to yourself
Women should be obscene, not heard
I remember the first time I had sex. I kept the receipt
Any man who says he can see through women is missing a lot.

And, of course, in every Marx Brothers movie, there was also at least one scene of horny Harpo suddenly honking and chasing a frightened girl.
