Dodgers vs Red Sox: Hairy Time In The World Series

Anyone old enough to remember the vintage baseball team, the House of David? The bearded players toured from 1913 to the 1950s. Seeing so many of the current Red Sox and Dodgers sporting beards in this season finale is a reminder of the whiskered history.

As a former high school third baseman, I now wonder how those hirsute guys can bat and field without the beards getting in the way. As for Justin Turner, the Dodger with the long red whiskers, I’d like to see him catch a fly ball in his beard. Also, when a Red Sox runner slides into third base, if the ball lands in Justin’s beard first, will the ump call the guy out?
