We see affirmations in the news that the U.S. National Do Not Call Registry prevents telemarketers, whether legit or phony, from making unsolicited calls. However, those laws have no controls over call centers in Transylvania, Timbuktu, Taiwan nor Tokyo. The Registry welcomes complaints from people bothered by the unwanted calls, but can’t possibly prevent all of them, especially in these days of ever-increasing tech advances.
The only way to save yourself from anger at the annoying messages is to hang up quickly. Yelling and cussing don’t help, because many of the calls are recorded and not from live people. Also with the advanced tech, your spoken responses may be saved by the robot call center for possible use in later scams. Just hang up.
