Many display ridiculous charges designed to fool stupid buyers into thinking they’re getting bargains. Worst are gas station signs that always list their grossly overpriced fuel, such as per gallon of $4.99 and 9/10s of a penny. We’re supposed to marvel that we’re not being robbed to pay as high as $5 a gallon.
The same applies to peddlers of new cars, cable TV stations, meds, resort hotels, airline tickets and other subtle robbery price sources. Wow, I’m gonna buy that almost new Mercedes sedan that’s listed at $49,999.99! Gee whiz! I couldn’t afford it if the sky-high price was $50,000.
