As in other big U.S. cities, the average grossly overpriced Los Angeles area one-bedroom unit today is $2,500 a month. In greedy landlordly Manhattan, it costs $3,000. Worse, in snooty San Francisco, it’s $3,600.
Apartment charges everywhere have been rising at the rate of at least 5% a year for the past two decades. So, it isn’t likely that this sidewalk sleeper will be financially able to move inside anywhere at any time soon.
