It’s easy to laugh at the recent propaganda photo from Iran. However, if you look closely at some of the very young faces under the ridiculous headgear, you’ll see a theme that has glorified war since so-called civilization began.
We can always remember endless versions of such war-themed photos and historic art of fearsome helmets, spears, swords and body armor. Nations have always been driven by patriotic compulsion to put uniforms on boy soldiers, arm them and send them out to murder each other.
Afterwards, of course, it then must happen that older politicians, diplomats, royals and generals will later honor the boys. They will stage colorful ceremonies and give stirring speeches and noble memorials to those teens who never came home.
