Nobody in my immediate family is very religious, but they all watch Ben-Hur when home at holiday time. It’s the 60th anniversary of the movie’s release, with the Christian theme as part of story. Other faves include Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street and It’s A Wonderful Life.
Some advantages of rerunning those old favorites vs current movies is that there are no eye- and brain-damaging graphics, loud, obnoxious so-called music, continuous cursing nor explicit sex scenes. Nor onscreen appearances of today’s so-called entertainers whose only talents are barking, screaming while flying thru the air gruesomely murdering aliens from outer space, Asia and/or Mexico. And by the way….have a very happy, safe, sober, old-fashioned holiday!
