The holidays bring a great increase in packages being left outside at front doors. Also, the temptation for both amateur and professional porch pirates is to grab them before homeowners can. The New York Times reports that in busy December as many as 90,000 doorstep-delivered packages are stolen daily in that city.
Here are some ways to prevent it from happening to you: Check out electronic devices that provide security camera and speaker so you can see, snap a photo and loudly shoo away sneaky thieves approaching your delivery items.
Have packages delivered to safe destinations, such as your workplace. Send them to a stay-at-home relative or friend. Have packages held at your local post office for pickup. Ask your mail carrier to place packages in an area out of sight, such as inside your closed garage door.
